The San Francisco Department of Public Health allowed the course to book tee times beginning Monday and permit public rounds with precautionary measures to help forestall the spread of the Covid that shut down sports.
"We actually have a need to ensure we are securing general wellbeing," San Francisco Mayor London Breed said yesterday.
Harding Park was shut March 16 when stay-at-home measures were forced in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The current year's PGA Championship was initially to be organized May 14-17 at the San Francisco format, however was delayed to August 6-9 in light of the destructive infection pandemic.
The Masters, generally the main significant competition every year, was deferred from April to November by the Covid flare-up while the US Open was moved from June to September and the British Open was dropped.
World number three Brooks Koepka, the highest level American golf player, has won the previous two PGA Championships, beating Tiger Woods by two strokes in 2018 at Bellerive and Dustin Johnson by a similar edge a year ago at Bethpage Black.
Koepka could turn into the main golf player to win a similar significant title three years straight since Australian Peter Thomson at the 1954-56 British Opens.
Walter Hagen won a record four PGA Championship titles in succession from 1924-1927.
Just players with reservations will be permitted onto the course.
Face covers and social separating needed consistently, in spite of the fact that covers can be taken out when players start their rounds.
Cups have been loaded up with tubing, with balls considered "holed out" when the ball contacts the cylinder.
